I think I'll take it back retrieve my $400 and start over. But this the
second M-audio product I've had it will be my last. Any suggestions of what
to consider? I'm just looking a simple guitar to computer interface, A
simple recording program with some drum loops. But I will say those monitor
speakers sure are nice sound great.

I currently plug my amp (out from the headphone jack) right into my
soundcard, or plug my guitar directly into the soundcard. You can get
an adapter that converts the connector on your cord to the mini plug
for the sound card (same plug to fit MP3 players, etc.). For the amp
I have a Y cable that lets me plug in the red and whites on one end
into the soundcard with just the single black. It works pretty well.
Nonetheless, I've been seriously contemplating the Stealthplug. It is
a USB interface and comes with Amplitude software. It's gotten some
good reviews and isn't too expensive. The big expense is if you want
to purchase the full version of Amplitude. It looks simple to use and
apparently even the standard version of Amplitude has some nice amp
modeling effects and pedals to choose from. Check out the website
www.stealthplug.com and you can see a lot of examples. I'll probably
get it some time next month as I'm really getting into playing through
the computer. There are some serious practice benefits with the
computer.

One thing I didn't mention was the recording program. I use Creative
Wave Editor that came when I upgraded my soundcard to a Soundblaster
Live. It is simple and works perfectly.
