HARDWARE
thanks
YER WELCOME
thanks mongo, very helpful, as usual
Well, I hate these computerz you know, so there's like tons of useful
hardware that does exactly what you want. Sure, you can't balance
yer checkbook and play solitaire at the same time, but the do what
you want, same as it ever was, just smaller and easier to use.
i've seen the Yamaha AW1600.
too expensive, and, little LED picture window is too small for my
aging, beady little eyeballs.
Plus, theres nobody I know using it. If i were to get into pro tools,
there all kindsa people I could swap files with, get advice, waste
even more time with, etc. Tone buddhas in Sommerville, for example.
altho he claims to hate pro tools and wishes he had hardware.
But I'm a computer geek at heart.
I have a buddy with a Mac and Logic ... steep learning curve, but a great
workstation, IMO ... who decided he really needed that tape vibe, so he went
out and bought a good condition Otari MX 2 track. Thing is, it never
occurred to him that you have to know how to set them up and maintain them
.... he's used to turning the box on and it just works. He's putting it on
Craigslist.
I'm an old tape guy ... for many years .. and these days I'd rather work
from a workstation.
