emg pa2 buzzing

I have wired an emg pa2 preamp booster to the output (just before the jack)
on my les paul. before i switch it on, the guitar is silent... after i
switch it on it buzzes.. grounding or something... i touch metal and it
stops buzzing. i soldered both black wires to ground, the white to the
middle wire (output) of the 3 way switch, the red to the battery, the green
to the hot lug of the jack.

does the string/bridge ground still need to be hooked up? i know for their
pickups they say don't attach the bridge ground, but what about the
accessories...?
