I think you prbably mean you would need to 'increase' the tension, --
but yeah, I take your point.
As I said before, all my knowledge of string theory is based on piano
design and thats a very different beast to the guitar.(Combined with
the fact that, as we all know, the guitar has the ability to defy all
known laws of physics ;-)
What certainly does seems to support The Repair Guy's view is that his
bridge floats higher with the Dean Markleys. That would suggest there
was an increase in tension.
But I 'did' say I was quite prepaired to be proved wrong.
Yeah, I meant increase, got it arse about.
The Dean Markleys maybe are less dense? Some differences between steel
densities combined with nickel could run at more than 5% difference.
Anyway, thats all about we can say without some direct facts or
experience.
Well, I think we've probably established that there probably are some small
but discernable differences in tension between different brands. What I've
been meaning to do is ask the OP why they are curious about this. Maybe then
someone could offer an opinion as to whether these differences would be
significant.
