I have one also with gold cover and it is fully potted in epoxy.
Mine measures just over 15k but my meter may not be very
accurate. I know it was out of a Gibson guitar but have no way
of knowing exactly what it came out of. I suspected it was from
a damaged SG (broken neck) that was laying around the shop.
I can say that it was pulled prior to around 1984-85 and it had
some of the gold worn off the top as if it had been played quite
a bit. This may help with dating it.

Strange thing about the one I have is that even though
it's potted it seems to be microphonic. No way to repot
with it being epoxy.
I currently have it installed in one of my Hagstrom guitars.
It's about the hottest Gibson pickup I've ever played.

Anyone else have a better idea about these PUs ?
