"Look, I have a strat, a telecaster, an old Gibson single coil...in
fact,
all my guitars are single coils. None are shielded. The hum is minimal.
Just not worth the bother shielding. "
Jeeze. Why bother with a strat or tele? I mean the difference in tone
between those and a walmart special is just being anal! It's all in the
music and the hands there Grumpy!
I do understand, however, that your bedroom (which is aparently the
only place you play) doesn't have much of a hum problem. You ought to
try it sometime on stage with some big transformers and lights nearby.
Grumpy reminds me of a guitar player I knew who had the jack all loose
and falling out of his strat. It would crackle and make static like mad
every time he moved but he thought that getting a wrench to tighten up
the nut was just being "anal". I mean he figured if he stood real still
it was not problem.... <sigh>
