hi and thanks for listening! Yes, we are lacking in the real drummer
department.

The timing on the drums is bugging me, but I can ignore that because it's not human. Guitar sounds WAY processed, a bit low mids happy, but maybe that's what you're going after. I'd go a bit cleaner with rhythm, with a bit more cut. The lead run sounds better. These are just opinions, and my tastes.

Drums are indeed a bit screwy at the beginning. That's MIDI for ya. I guess along with the guitar, I should have taken up the drums, keyboards and sax too! :-)

The guitar is definitely more over driven than the original. You're suggestion of a cleaning it up a bit might merit some investigation.

I'm not suggesting that you copy GFR. Covers should always show your flavor. I just tend to prefer a guitar tone that is not that processed sounding. How was the guitar done? It doesn't sound like a mic in front of an amp. But, again, YOU need to decide what you want to hear. I am not criticizing, only offering my opinion on what I'd do.

I know you're not criticizing. Again, I appreciate your input. I've read lots of your thoughts in this group and we agree on a lot.

On this particular song, the guitar is mostly Charlie's playing and I did the intro solo, and the lead break (harmony lead is both Charlie and I).

We are both currently using (Ack!) SS modelers direct into the PC. Charlie is using a Line 6 Pod XTLive and I'm using a BOSS GT-6. More gear info is listed here: http://steve-mann.com/p43/gear.html

I know what you're saying about the guitar tone. And we know how subjective that is based on posts in this group. I think Charlie and I are still looking for that 'perfect' sound and we're still on that journey.

I've changed some things and I think I'm getting closer to something I'm happy with. You can here it on the Radar Love demo (http://steve-mann.com/p43/music/rl2.mp3). If you have a minute, listen to that and see if the guitar tone is a little more like what you enjoy.

Another comment: I really like your song list. I played all but "American Girls," at one time or another. Fits in with my tastes, as a frustrated player who started in the 70's. "Strutter" was my choice for a song, and other band members resisted at first, but then loved it. I'd love to find some local similarly situated weekend warriors to do a similar project with.

Radar Love is giving my sub a workout, but I like solid bass. I'd boost the return phrases on the rhythm guitar, and bring vocals down a notch. But a FUN song, and decent results.
