Another idea is to screw it down to max to achieve better coupling and
to feed the strings through the holes in the tailpiece from the bridge
toward the tail of the guitar and wrap them back over the tailpiece
towards the bridge & neck.

I've seen it done, but I make no claims about performance.

It does obviate the need for worrying about it's height & adjustments.
