Conversely, if it says Gibson on the headstock, you'll never truly be happy. You'll always know that you paid too much.

Yep, a valid one. But besides the main point. This guy wants a Gibson...he's just not willing or able to shell out the bucks for one.
Personally, I'm interested in a faded LP Junior ...the price is half-
decent, and I always upgrade certain parts anyway.
Play that neck before you get your heart set on it. I don't like the faded necks, personal taste.
At the risk of Gibson guys coming unglued, check out: http://www.rondomusic.net/gg1jr.html http://www.rondomusic.net/gg1jrsbk.html or

Are they Gibson's? Heck no. Are they good guitars? I'm betting that they are. I just bought the entry level SX fat strat for my nephew. With some setup and fixing a bad connection, it is one hell of a guitar for the price. Honestly, I don't know how they do it. Chinese slave labor? (I bought second hand, so I didn't patronize the Chinese.)
So, for $100 to $130 plus shipping, you might be very happy, and be left with a wad of money in your pocket.
