OT: Expired Song Copyrights?

I am thinking about cutting a CD of old time Baptist music (I guess thats
what you would call it) with songs like "I am Weary (Let me rest)". I am
thinking something simple like me on guitar, wife singing with me on backup.
I have an idea of some of the songs I want to do, I have the studio
software, the equipment etc. How can I make sure I do not violate any
copyrights as I plan on attempting to sell them on ebay and Yahoo Auctions
and dont want to get into trouble. Sorry for being OT and thanks to all who
answer.
