Re: Time to restring?

Elixers, Gold, Platinum, Kryptonite I don't care what you are using if
you cant hear a HUGE difference after a year or even much less than
that you must have a tin ear or something......on an electric I can
leave them on a little longer but on an acoustic after two months at
the max I need to put new strings on.

One rather big thing and I mean really big is wiping them down, if you
ask 100 guitarists if they wipe down their strings I bet 90 would say
yes I also bet less than ten do it every single time they play the
guitar.

I'm not getting down on anyone I used to be one who said yes I do but
didn't every single time you will be amazed how much difference it
makes.....wipe em down good from the top......take your 100% cotton or
made for guitar rag and slip it under the strings and take hold of it
from both sides of the neck and pull it up and down the neck a couple
of times to get the bottoms or do them individually to get the bottom
either way. Sweat is one thing but body fluids and acids are the big
killer on strings. If I had the money I would replace my strings every
week on my acoustics........if I played out I would change strings
with every gig.......

I was floored by those gold strings I had never heard of that although
I have heard of the extreme properties of gold so it makes sense it
would be good for protecting the strings but how about tone?

I don't use Elixirs because I don't like the tone I try different
things and always come back to D'Addarios.
