Thanks much guys. The SD diagram was awesome. That makes me want to
buy a couple of their humbuckers for my SG. Which humbuckers would be
good for all-around styles. some blues, some 70's, and even some
country?
Another question. I purchased some String Saver saddles from
Graphtech. I put these on all my guitars and never break strings
anymore. I have them on my American strat, and I love them. I got my
new set for the SG today, and damn if I can figure out how to get the
old saddles off the sG bridge. Any ideas? On my last tunomatic,
(Ibanez), they had a thin wire across the back of the bridge that held
the screws in place. I see nothing like this on the tunomatic Gibson
bridge. Do i have to take the bridge off and do something from
underneath?
I can't wait to get my SG done.
To Jim, No, I would much rather have all my pups controlled from one
volume pot. I back off and turn up for leads, I want all three
positions controlled the same way by the same pot. Your way, I am
unable to use the mid position and turn up for leads because all it
does is turn up one pup, which really doesn't raise the volume very
much, but it ruins the tone. I don't know how anyone can like being
FORCED to screw around with two volume controls. Your way, you are
UNABLE to control your mid position the same way that you control your
other positions. Doesn't that make you feel limited? I don't need
the tone change of using the two volumes, that's why I have the two
pups. You can't find a tone you like for an entire song in one of the
three positions? I can do any of my 150 songs in one of the three
positions, so I don't need to screw around with two volumes and be
limited in my mid positions. My one pot gives me TOTAL control from
one knob!! That's freedom, not a limitation. You are the one limited
because you are BARRED from using you mid position in the same way as
you do your other two positions. The three positions are very
distinct tones and I know of no song that I can't find a good tone for
with one of the three positions, so why not give yourself the option
of controlling your mid pup just like you do your others, and you also
don't have to fool with two pots, ONE DOES IT ALL. No, I would never
choose to be saddled with two volume pots. More ease and freedom to
control it all with one pot. SRV with the neck pup, turn up for leads
with the one pot, flick the switch and it's off to ACDC with the
bridge pup, turn the same pot up for leads, a nice country twang, mid
position and still the same pot, FREEDOM.
