This is a matter of taste mostly. I had a bone nut put on an acoustic
guitar some years ago. I don't think sustain was enhanced. The guitar
definitely became a brighter instrument but not by a huge amount. And in
this guitar the brightness was not an improvement in my opinion.
A fairly fresh set of strings and the ability to play are far more
important
