Re: "Opening Up" a new guitar

Lump:
Perhaps I like Tony Bennet. They like Lady Gaga.
What I think sounds good in a pedal, music, guitars
is not only irrelevant but a hinderance for the other person.

Tony:
OK, but I would see that as egocentricity. - An underlying assumption
that my/your/his/her opinion is more than just a tiny speck in the
internet information universe. It also assumes a herd mentality, and
maybe that is more prevalent than I estimate. In any event, "caveat
emptor", especially where the internet is concerned.

Huh? Not sure what you are trying to say.

Music is 100% egocentric. What I like isn't what you like.
It's 100% centered around each individual.

I don't know what you mean by -
"An underlying assumption
that my/your/his/her opinion is more than just a tiny speck in the
internet information universe."

Then you turn right around and say
"...It also assumes a herd mentality"

How can it be both? And egocentric at the same time?

I don't want to know what kind of pedal/music/guitar/car/sex partner
works for YOU. I want the one that works for me.

Ed agrees with me on this.
