Exactly the point - it's expensive and you should make the best of the
$ you spend. I personally would have a home recording at the very
least, and more likely a bunch of rehersals before hand.
Let me know if you get Duane Allman to come to those rehearsals.
This part is just up to the artists.. None of you bussiness, unless

Actually, it's not up to the artists. It's up to the
exectutive producer. That's the person with the checkbook.
It has nothing to do with inspiration or unique thinking.
Studios cost mega dollars.
You're clearly trying to imagine/guess at a situation of
which you have no knowledge or experience.
