You all have valid points but one thing I will say is that it's a
bit off-putting to have someone like Lumpy breathing fire and
brimstone and being so forceful when someone is an absolute
brand-new beginner, and not what I'd expect from a group titled
alt.guitar.BEGINNER :-)

You've decided on your own that you could never be a guitarist.

Can you point to where the OP stated the above? It's illogical to
presume that a person who purchased a guitar and ancillary equipment,
started taking lessons, and then sought advice on a guitar-related
Usenet group has decided he can never be a guitarist.

Perhaps you're reading too much into a few off-the-cuff self-
deprecating comments.

Then again, perhaps the OP is loathsome twit who should be burned at
the stake.

Mike

"Accent the negative and eliminate the positive."

Your motto is "Ignore the reality, close your eyes and sing ladedadeda and
all the negative bad things will go away."
