I found the arrangements of Beatle's tunes in the movie "Across the Universe" fascinating. Most of them would have that iconic bit somewhere in them, somehow, but in the case of those tunes they could count on most listeners being so familiar with the tunes that they could really mess with those iconic riffs or phrases.

Top of the list for me was the version of I Wanna Hold Your Hand, sung as a heartbreaking lament by the Asian cheerleader girl. I thought it was a frickin' brilliant conception of that tune.

The only one I really didn't care for was the arrangement for Bono's rendition of I Am the Walrus. I don't think they caught the spirit of that one.
