Talking about bad lyrics, did Page and Plant write any songs that made
any sense whatsoever?

Lately I've been singing "Rock and Roll." Sort of Latin style, with an acoustic guitar, and my percussion buddy contributing to the groove.
I'd never paid any attention to the lyrics before, but now I find it quite a good "Middle Aged Guy" sort of anthem. While I wouldn't say that every phrase has particular meaning for me, I find it quite easy to get into singing it with a certain degree of passion.
Its been a long time since I rock and rolled,
Its been a long time since I did the stroll.
Ooh, let me get it back, let me get it back,
Let me get it back, baby, where I come from.
Its been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.
Yes it has.
Its been a long time since the book of love,
I cant count the tears of a life with no love.
Carry me back, carry me back,
Carry me back, baby, where I come from.
Its been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.
Seems so long since we walked in the moonlight,
Making vows that just cant work right.
Open your arms, opens your arms,
Open your arms, baby, let my love come running in.
Its been a long time, been a long time,
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.
In a Latin flair...that sounds interesting...
Have you ever heard a band called "Dread Zeppelin"?..an Elvis impersonator singing Zep tunes in a reggae stylee, mon? Check it out...my fav is "Heartbreaker at the end of Lonely Street" - Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel" lyric, done to Zep's "Heartbreaker". As a reggae.
....or better yet, check out Hayseed Dixie - they do AC/DC songs in a bluegrass style. You'd absolutely SWEAR the songs were originally recorded as bluegrass songs.
