I'm not marking tests [at home] on "my time".

That's not the way it is in my world. I'm at the school from 8 to 5, and
working the whole time. I relax for about 15 minutes at lunch, and maybe
5 or 10 minutes during break, but otherwise I'm always working. And I
take work home, and I work on weekends.
There do seem to be people out there who look at teaching as just a job,
and I know my own kids have had some pretty lame teachers. But there are
also people who see it as a vocation, with the pay just a necessary part
of the deal because you have to eat and live somewhere.
I've heard people say "Teachers don't do anything." Some of the people
I've heard say this probably never paid any attention to what their
teachers were doing, so they have no idea.- Hide quoted text -

Hi Sean,

A lot of people in the UK moan about schools and teachers. My son's
being home educated 'cause the local schools are so bad. IMO it's has
very little to do with the school facilities or the teachers. If more
parents taught their kids manners and instilled in them the value of
education, most of the problems would be solved.

All power to you. I don't think I could handle a day in any of our
local schools.
