Practice. I think we've all experienced this at one time or another. I
suspect it's particularly hard for a person who's used to playing
acoustic guitars to get used to. All I can say is that it takes a bit
of getting used to, but you've got to start getting spare fingers,
palms, etc. involved in muting where necessary. As with everything
else, start slow, learn to identify exactly where the sounds are coming
from, and use whatever spare appendages are available to suppress them.



Yeah, who said that playing electric is easier than acoustic? <g> I'm not bad at string wrestling for hours on end though.

I wonder who said that? An electric played at high gain does not forgive mistakes, random string rubbing or any of that. You have to play like a dainty little flower when you're playing that full on screaming electric stuff.
