Anyhow - tell us your stories!
(I googled an old post about this subject I made in 2002:)
Do you remember the first guitar you ever bought? I gotta tell
the story about the first one I ever bought. I thought the brand
name was "Hecho En", a company in Mexico. This was in 1957. It
had a small inside label that read
_______________

Hecho En
Mexico
_______________
The top and bottom were thin wall masonite, and I don't know what
the sides were made of. It was two-tone orange and blue, and there
was decorative aluminum trim on the top (which I later figured out
was countertop edge trim). The action was about 3/4" high at the
twelfth fret, which made me no difference because I couldn't play
it up that high anyhow. The action kept getting higher and higher
as the neck began to slowwwwly separate from the body. Anyhow, I
learned another one of life's little lessons: Never pay the owner
of a pawn shop on South Main in Fort Worth $12.00 for a guitar.

(On the brighter side, it lasted almost a year.)
