Friend of mine had a bug, early 50s, that
had those mechanical turn signal "semaphore"
things. Little metal "flags" that came out of
the door pillar when you used the turn signal.
Signal right, the little right flag rotated out,
signal left, the left flag came out.
My dad had an old Dodge panel truck, like
"Rescue 8" that had the same turn signal
semaphore thingies.
Then some time in the late 60s or early 70s,
a friend of mine bought an old Pacific Bell
van. I think it was an Econoline. We covered
it with rough finish stucco that was arctic
white. As was typical of vans of the day,
we named it -
"Frosty the Snow Van"
This was right around the time the guy in
Pasadena had a car covered in peat moss
and chicken wire and planted grass in the
peat. A "Chia car".
