The reason the commercials are so loud in the first place is that they
*are* compressed more than the programmed material. So if you add
another compressor, you'll make the programs louder but compress the
commercials even more!
I'm afraid that this is one of those "Pandora's Box" issues. Once out,
you can't get it back in.
On the other hand, modern remotes have mute buttons -- for a reason!
