Hi,

I have a question I'd like to ask about where to place the thumb on
the neck when playing open chords on the guitar.

There's a unique question.
What's it been, 6 hours? Since the last post on this topic?

Thank you all for the replies, and some of those replies were a much
needed wake-up call in many respects!

I thought what I asked was a good question, but maybe it is not,
really. If I learned anything from many of the replies here, it is
that I'm probably focusing on or asking about things that really
shouldn't matter or are of little consequence, and I should
concentrate more on the actual playing of music....instead of letting
the little things bother me.

Perhaps the reason why I began overly focusing on the issue of where
to put the thumb and etc on the neck was because I was playing a
particular electric guitar, an Ibanize GAX70, which probably would
have what could be considered a very stiff feeling neck, and I noticed
that if you -don't- press the thumb on the back of the neck just right
when chording, it can be rather uncomfortable.

switched to acoustic guitar for most of my practice now. Maybe I'll
start looking for electrics with thinner, more curved necks than the
Ibanez.
