Listening to a version on YouTube:

Here's what I get out of it:
I (C)feel her gently (Gmaj7)sighing as the (C)evening slips
a(D7)way.

(Chords placed immediately preceding the syllable upon which they
occur.)

Bm might be useable in place of Gmaj7 as they share three notes in
common (B, D, F#) but if you listen carefully you'll hear the G
root also.

I disagree. I hear a B note there. Also, here's another youtube clip

The sound is horribly mangled, but fortunately that passage is intact,
and you can hear the C - B - C - D root motion.

Here's another one:

The last chord in the line is definitely D7.

Always liked the Moodies. Justin Hayward is an excellent songwriter and
a terrific singer. Still looks and sounds like he's in his 30s.
