Re: Need Help Understanding How to Figure This Out

I hope somebody gives a good answer to this
one.
I looked at the Ring of Fire, since it's
only got 3 chords I think.
One online showed C G C and I think one other chord,
slipped my mind.
Then the movies version showed it with A and D chords.
Tried both, my neighbor tried em( he has been playing a long time)
and it didn't sound like the song, since I had heard it played
on the radio the day before.
What's a real pisser is it's a simple song.
Had heard that Johnny Cash tuned his guitar a certain way.

Hi Folks,

I was asked a question about being able to figure out the chords to a song
if you only know the melody and was hoping that someone could shed some
light in how to figure this out. For example, lets say, instead of trying
to figure out the key, and chords, you just have a melody line and want to
figure out which chords go with the melody line being sung, how do you
figure that out?
