How's your CW you OF?

Not very fast. I learned 20 for the test
a million years ago but never worked CW.
Now I've got a CW radio, I'm refreshing
my code.

CW was my favourite mode, though I never really got much past about 15. I
spent most of my time on 80m. For a brief time I could copy 20-22 WPM in
spurts, back when I was tracking the low earth orbit Russian satellites
(reading their telemetry). But I must be down to abt 5-6 WPM by now,
since I sold all my gear and traded it for guitar gear.

I've been on 5w 20m all over the world
the past couple of days. This afternoon
I QSOd w/ S America and my dipole pattern
was East West. I was good copy with only
QRP and my antenna was pointed the wrong
way!

Cool. I always felt that 1KW setups was taking the challenge (and thus
fun) out of it. I never worked more than 100W with my Drake TR4Bs, which
sadly I sold eventually. I gave up on SSB on the Drakes because they were
tube based and many hams with the shiny new computerized SS units would
whine about me being off a few Hertz!

I may take it up again someday (don't tell that to my XYL), but this
would be when I've got further with guitar and have time for it (retired
that is).

Instead of working up my WPM, I have to get my BPM up there first. ;-)

73, Snark.
