I'd recommend AC/DC and Black Sabbath...
The Black Sab version of

was way better than Cream's.

You Played on Lawrence Welk?
Yes but no blue notes. Just blue hairs.

Was it? I haven't heared it..... I don't trust you Lumpy. I can never
tell if your just baiting the hook :-)
About people asking for suggestion of what to learn. Is it such a bad
idea really? OK the guy's asking us what he should play. May sound a
bit odd at first but, is it any different from the author of a tutor
book including tunes he knows the readers will be able to play and
learn from. I'm really glad my jazz beginners book suggested learning
Mr PC and, someone pointed me in the direction Of Burrells - Midnight
Blue. Without that bit of guidance, I may still be looking for cool
tunes I have a chance of playing well or, I may of given up thinking
it was all too difficult.
I really doubt this poster has not tried a few songs. If he really has
had the dedication to just sit and learn chords etc then, all power to
him for sticking with it. I know your suggestion of "learning what you
like" is put in the most helpful way but I must say there plenty of
stuff I like that I'm sure I'm not quite ready to learn yet.
All the best, Cliff
.
