A PZM (any omni) records the ROOM. You're not pointing
the mic at anything you're picking up the sound in the
entire room. If you have a great room, no fire trucks
or leaf blowers, it could be fabulous. But for typical
less than ideal recording rooms, I think most people would
much prefer the results from a pair of cardioids. That
Sony or RatShack stereo mic is a pair of cardioids in
one housing. I've heard great results from that odd
looking mic.
