Hi,
Been playing about 10 months now and have accumulated a good selection
of picks (nylon, Tortex and Delrin). Over the months I have eventually
settled on a very light gauge (0.5mm) Tortex. I keep trying to use
firmer picks, but my playing suffers as a result. Although it doesn't
make much difference when strumming, it feels like I've only been
playing for a couple of months when I try to pick tunes.
From what I read, the consensus seems to favour firmer picks. Is it
worth me persevering with firmer pick, or should I stick to what works
for me. If the latter, am I going to suffer farther down the road?
Cheers,
Keep working up to firmer picks. They give you much more control over
your attack as they don't 'wash' out when you drive them a little
harder.
