Lump:
Make up your mind. Do we need a setup, or no?
Cisko:
Sure why not? I never said you did not. Your bizarre comprehension
is making a big deal about this apparently. Just do not add the cost
to the cost of the guitar.
Is it the COST of the setup that you disagree with?
Do you want the sales person to do that setup?
Who set up your Estebirdfeeder?
Here's some of your previous gems regarding setups -
Maybe he checked it quickly or something, but I did not get charged for
it. He did say if it needed to be re-setup he woudl do it. Maybe my guy is
just that good...
*****
...I bought a strat that was perfect for me - no setup...
*****
...I bought an Esteban. Big time setup there...
*****
...If I get a setup at all, it happens once. If I
have to get one again on the same guitar it is
"oh shit" time. 4 in one year means a crap guitar.
My esteban doesn't even need another setup...
*****
[Does a new guitar straight out of the box 'have to' be set up?]
I would certainly not be shocked to have to pay to have it setup. I would
not trust that a new guitar is all set at the factory.
*****
What's your definition of "setup"?
Setting the string height (action) and intonation. What am I missing?
*****
...Has your guitar ever been setup? If not, you should at least check that
as everyone has suggested.
If you change string gauges you may have to get it re-setup anyway. Take
it to a good luthier/guitar repair person. The setup should not be much
more than $35.
*****
So let's recap your statements on setups.
- Every guitar needs a setup when new
- Your strat was an exception
- Your Esteban needed a "big time" setup. I guess that
guitar needed some "big time" setting of the string
height and intonation.
- You don't believe the cost of a setup should be
added to the cost of the guitar, yet you would not
be shocked to find that they weren't setup at the
factory. So it's ok to take it to a professional
and expect to pay $35.
- Your "professional luthier" is so good that you
really don't know "what you're missing" you just
guess "maybe he checked it quickly or something".
And he didn't charge you anything.
- If you need a setup more than once then it's
"oh shit" time, unless you change string gauges.
You're a priceless piece of "I can't make up my mind".
