I know every guitar store I've walked into has a million guitars
hanging. I know there are some very knowledgeable people here.
Opinions please. Thanks.
Wall hangers are fine in general. Some may have plastic cushions that
can react with and mar nitrocellulose finishes, but I bet most anything
you buy today from a reputable seller will be safe. And, of course,
hanging guitars are more exposed to the elements. I have several
hangers and the slight danger they're exposed to is a small price to
pay for having them available at any time. Besides, I think they make
pretty decorations.
One thing to watch out for - the protective neoprene (or whatever it
is) coating on one of mine is coming off, exposing bare metal. I'll
need to replace it.
I'd still be careful with nitro finishes. It wasn't that long ago when I
marred the finish on a Les Paul by not being aware of this. What I do now
(to be on the safe side) is to fold up a piece of paper towel and put it
between the guitar neck and the hanger.
