I disagree. At least I disagree if I understand what
you're saying.
Music is art. Art is supposed to evoke emotion.
Art is supposed to make some people love it and
some people hate it.
Like you, I'm humored by people that say
"I like all kinds of music". I guarantee I can
find plenty of stuff that they would hate.
And I think that's the way it should be.
If we don't hate some stuff, we can't love
some stuff. Same with food, girls, porno movies,
whatever.
I think we can "appreciate" all kinds of music
even if we don't like them all. I don't care for
the comment "I don't consider rap or opera to be
music" which I read here yesterday. Like it or
not, rap and opera is music. Doesn't mean I have
to like it. But it's a little immature to say
"I don't like it therefore it doesn't exist".
