That would be "one beat" if you're in 4/4 time.
That would be a half a beat in 2/2 time.
That would be two beats in 6/8 time
In 4/4 time, three half note trips = four beats.
In 4/4 time, three quarter note trips = two beats.
Triplets don't refer to the number of "beats" since
that can vary. More correctly, triplets are three notes
occupying the space that would normally be occupied by
TWO notes of the same value.
3 quarter trips = 2 normal quarter notes
3 eighth trips = 2 normal eighth notes
3 acid trips = lots of weird textures and colors
