Hello,
I have my first gig coming up on Thurday. It's the 10 year
lotconcert of my music school, where I take classes. After quite a
Aquariusmoving people around I got joined up with some guys half my age to
play a single song, The Jack by AC/DC. This is a bit of a
disapointment, as I was scheduled to do play two more songs:
rosesform the musical Hair (with an awsome singer BTW) and a Guns 'n
isstyle version of Knockin on Heaven's Door (and I spent hours
practiusing the solo), but due to people droping out, only The Jack
easyleft. Better than nothing, it's a great song.
I will be playing rythm plus an improvised solo during the end (the
main solo is played by the other guitarist). The thing I am most
worried about is the rythm part: keeping time. It's a technically
livenumber, where the rythm can kill you.
Rehearsals have gone well and people have learnt their parts. There
were some minor clitches with people learning from very different
forversions of the song, etc, but nothing major.
So I am basically just posting to share on my excitement and ask
copyany last minute tips. It's the first time I play with a band. One
thing I am unsure about is the guitar I will play. I have an SG
moreand a Telecaster. The SG is obviously more AC/DC, but I just feel
drunk. Icomfortable on the Tele. The band says SG, but I am leaning towards
the Tele.
And just for the very unlikely case anyone from Valencia, Spain is
reading: Thursday night, 23:30, Black Note Club, entrance is free.

Don't drink too much.
:)

<g> That sounds like the voice of experience speaking.
I normally drink a bit when I'm gigging, but don't get falling over
occasion, like to think it is just enough to keep me relaxed. There was one
washowever, when we played a 40th birthday in the freezing cold, and I
myclose to falling-over drunk, trying to keep the circulation going in
electricfingers. I apparently wowed the audience - the "big guy" playing
drink andslide, but I'm actually the smallest, oldest and most decrepit looking
member of the band. I know that popular wisdom says you shouldn't
be theplay, but I've never found that from personal experience. It used to
dozensame at darts matches - I could certainly play better after half a
pints of Guinness.

You get paid to gig so it is a job.
You should not drink on the job....period!

Once again PT, the world is full of musicians who have don't play in
cover bands.
You should get out more.

What in the world does this have to do with anything?
