Hey gang.

I have been looking for some recording software, so I can plug into my
computer and record.
I have been playing for over 20 years, but computer recording is something
new to me.

Now, 2 things come to mind. First, if my guitar has a preamp, that takes a
9V battery, and I plug into the line in on my sound card, is there a chance
of blowing the card??

Second, I have come across software called...
Acoustica Mix Master. I have been using this by using the mic on my headset.
It works well, as far as the software goes, just too much crap background
noise. Is this software a good program to use??

But I am really concerned about the sound card as stated in the first
question.. I just don't know if I should use a special type of pci card for
guitar or something. Any help would be appreciated.

I am making some progress. I downloaded the Audacity program again,
and I got it to work. If nothing else, this means that I will now be
able to post some tunes. After I downloaded it, also, I started to
remember the steps which I went through to get it to work the first
time I downloaded it. Getting it to work then took me a couple of
days, by the way. Since it will take me awhile to download MixCraft
again, I will explain these steps, since they would apply to MixCraft
also.

In the first place, I should explain that I have the Windows XP
operating system. I began by clicking on "start", at the bottom of
the screen. Then I went to "control panel". Next, I swotched to
"classic view", and clicked on "sounds and audio deviced". I then
went to "volume", "advanced", and enabled the "line-in". After this,
I went to "audio", "sound recording", and selected "line-in".

Well, that's it. Like I said, these steps to get Audacity working
would also apply to getting MixCraft to work, so I thought that I
should post them right away, rather than waiting until I download
MixCraft again, which I still plan on doing, especially since I think
that MixCraft has some features that Audacity does not.

I hope that this helps Bam, or, if not Bam, perhaps somebody else who
might want to post some tunes.
