Thanks for your replies, I will check used Yamahas locally. That's
what I started off with and was satisfied. I only buy locally anyways.

That's exactly what I was going to say ;-) I Googled a bit but still can't
find the price yet (to imagine what the actual cost to the OP will be, Twang
selling "damb near at cost"), but I did find another good (stellar) review
of one particular beginners solid-top model Valencia (model 3125). I don't
know who "Spanish Guitar Centre of London" is, but there ya go.

Best I can do right now, and I agree with you Derek.

If I recall correctly, Tony Melochy (TheOldGuy) once told me that Twang was
one of his favorite people. If this is the same Twang (and if I'm getting
the name right), then that's a good enough recommendation for me, as far as
"trust" goes. ;-)

Used Yamaha's on Craigslist might be expedient? But if if Twang's is far
better and in the price range he wants, and he can wait a couple weeks, who
knows.
