OK, try this. Barre all the strings at the second fret with your index
finger. Now rotate your hand slightly toward the headstock so the area
between the front and side of your finger is the part making contact with
the fretboard. Now place your middle finger over your index to reinforce
the barre. Now place the distal phalanx of your pinky (that's the third
containing the nail) over the second, third and fourth strings at the 4th
fret. Try to arch that finger over the 1st string so you don't touch it.
Feels weird, huh? Initially, you will get mostly mutes and buzzes. If you
work with this form, you will get it. Clapton does a variation of this; he
uses his ring finger instead of the pinky. For learning, using the pinky
will give you the most strength.
The B chord is never easy, but a lot of guitar playing is not easy. That's
what makes it worth doing.
Keep at it and good luck.
I'll give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!
