Re: More Copyright infringement Info

iTunes doesn't manage it "brilliantly". Well, from Apple's standpoint,
perhaps. But, not from the consumer's. The file type is proprietary. You
can only use it on Apple's software/hardware (without first converting it,
which is against the rules, so to speak).

I had a problem yesterday where I was totally willing to pay a few
bucks for a song. So I went and searched for itunes and thought I'd
jump on the bandwagon.

Apparently there isn't an itunes website or anything, it's all done
within the program. I dunno, needless to say I needed to download some
software to even look to see if they had I wanted.

I'm not going to waste my time downloading software to see if I need to
even use it. Turns out the entire CD I wanted is available on amazon
for .69 cents plus a few bucks shipping. I only wanted one song but
hey.

What we need, like yesterday, is a clear, concise, legal standard. I'm
about sick of paying for the same music, over and over. If I buy the
license once, I should be able to have a copy of the song/album/film/etc in
whatever format I need, in order to make use of it on the hardware I have.
Take Zep's 4th LP. I had it on vinyl, 8-track, cassette, and CD. That's
about $60US (by period prices)for one album. If I wanted to get it on
iTunes, I'd need to fork over a couple hundred MORE dollars, just to be
able to play it away from my monitor. I think that I've paid enough for it,
that if I wanted to fart /The Battle of Evermore/ in public, I goddamn-well
oughta be able to. And I shouldn't owe Page/Plant/Whoever another dime for
it.

I will NEVER buy PF's DSOTM or Zep4 ever again. I estimated it one day
and I have easily spent over $1000 on those two bands. As far as I'm
concerned I have unlimited usage or those two albums.
