No, no, I didn't. I re-read my post to make sure. I had nothing to
say
about the topics of discussion in this nor any other newsgroup.
Although
comments are always welcome (this being a discussion forum and all)
I
asked no questions about anything. I said nothing about a majority
of
discussions being gear discussions and in fact most aren't.
OK so the point of your post was what? To hear yourself
pontificate?
Come on Greg, have another look at the original post. The point is
obvious enough.
Most players/beginners buy a few boxes, have a bit of fun with them for
a while and even keep using the odd one for years.
The point is, however much we think they are going to improve our
playing - the truth is they don't. Boxes can inspire you to play more
and they can make a few simple tricks sound much more impressive but
only practice will make you play better. If you need to improve you're
playing skills then buying a different OD pedal will make little
difference.
So if you really want to learn to _play_, don't waste too much time
messing about with the hardware. If however you want to learn how to
shape and reshape a simple signal into something far more complex
that's another skill. I think most beginners can work out which they
should concentrate on first :-)
Cliff
Right, that's the jist of my post. And it extends even further than
pedals:
It's amps, guitars, gadgets, books, videos, etc... It's a lot easier to
spend the money than to do the practice. But the practice is what gives
all
of the returns. And this is my opinion, it's debateable. But some people
read that I was bitching about everyone posting gear related threads in
this
newsgroup. I did not mean that, and when I reread my original post I did
not
get that out of it. People can post whatever they want here, I ain't no
moderator nor do I want to be. I'm just another joe with a little bit of
spare time. I have no special insights or great knowledge of anything.
But
if someone is going to argue with me argue with what I'm saying, don't
twist
it, mutilate it, or add to it. This ain't Washington.
Sasquatch
i did not know bigfoots could ride bikes. evidently they can ride
pretty good becuase this one can backpedal with the best of them. admit
it, you got your balls busted. stop crying and take it like a man. or a
big hairy monkey. whatever, a bog hairy looser.
the truth is, we are going to talk about gear here whether you like it
or not so if you don't like it then go jerk off on a porn site or
something.

OK, another troll with nothing to add. Killfiled.
