Thanks William, Lumpy, and Kevin for your replies so far. I will address
each of the responses below.

You don't say what you usually play but have you considered buying hard
case and taking a full sized guitar with you?

I usually do...

Have a hard case, but I'm not that interested in carrying a full sized
guitar through a casino. Discussed this with my wife at length (well,
about
15 minutes, and it turned pretty funny). I'm looking to get rid of the
weight of a full sized guitar, and I doubt we'll have the room for
something
that long in our car. This will be my last choice, although I have not
totally ruled this option out at this point.

A Fender Strat in its hard case with a 'Smokey' amp and a strap in the case
compartment works for me with hotel rooms. I've also been invited to a
couple of jam sessions by people who saw me carrying it in...

I have lugged an acoustic guitar half way around the world along with sixty
odd pounds of other luggage, but it's not fun...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.
