Singing with guitar

My problem seems to be with getting the guitar/my voice tone together..
I can play guitar in a wide range of standed maj/min keys..
But I have never tried to train/practice my voice ..I can sing solo in a
reasonable "sounding in-tune" balanced round tone...but try to put that with
the guitar
I can't find the key ..
So my voice wanders up n down, in n out in tone chasing the guitar sound
where I am trying this or that key in to try catch the voice ..??? result
strangled
nasel voice noise..
I realize I'm assuming an untutored voice (that sounds "in tune") will be
naturally following
a standed western maj/min type scale ...I IV V chord type thing ..is this
so ?
As I have a trained (Ha Ha!) guitar ability ..do I have to train my voice to
fit ??
