I have been looking at a multitude of TABS and CHORDS for songs
that i love and want to learn how to play...(chords because i am

see a chord name on top of the TAB .. is that showing best finger
position for those notes or is it what the rhythm guitar is
playing at that time?
There is no standards for tablature, so you have to make a best guess
on a case-by-case basis as to what the author meant. And since we have
no example to listen to, we have to guess what your example refers to.
In this case, the chord symbols match the fingering below, but that
wouldn't always necessarily be so. If there is a rhythm guitar on the
recording, these are probably the chords he's playing.
