I have seen a couple of live performances of Gilmour doing it and his
live version doesn't sound (to me) as close to the studio version as
it could. Dare I say I have seen other bands do better live versions
than Gilmour (closer to the studio version anyway- which is the
version I love) - if you listen to Delicate Sound of Thunder for
example, he is not doing a note for note copy - whereas I have seen
others do closer copies.
Why pay all that money to see a note-for-note copy? Give the man credit
for some artistic license and creativity...
Doing a closer-to-studio version live does not equate to a "better live
version."
Indeed, but for me, Time in particular is all about that one solo and its
better imo not to change it (especially as it doesnt sound as good)
.
