Fyi, you're points aren't lost on me, I understand what you're saying re:
the scales; it's all a matter of relativity, based on where you start from,
and whilst the notes might be essentially the same, the scales obviously are
not.
One of the reasons I know they're different is because they have different
names :-).

I say again perspective. Lumpy says the G major has a GABCDEFG and the E
minor has an EFGABCDE so they have the same notes. I obviously can not
disagree with this, as long as you say that the two instruments are tuned
to the same frequency and temperament.
