I know this may sound silly but how do u find out which notes chords areHere's the notes in the key of C Major:
made up of? Didnt find any info in the books i have.
jam
C D E F G A B C
1) A Major chord is made of the first, third and fifth notes, i.e. C, E and G.
Let's try A Major - the notes are:
A B C# D E F# G# A
So the major chord is A, C# and E.
2) A minor chord has a flat third, so A Minor is A, C and E, and C Minor is C, Eb and G.
3) A seventh chord is a major chord with a flat seventh added on, so C7 is C, E, G and Bb. Similarly, A7 is A, C#, E and G
4) A powerchord (A5, C5 etc) is the first and the fifth - no third, so it's neither major nor minor. To fill the sound out, you can repeat the first note an octave higher, as an eighth. So A5 will be A, D and another A, and C5 will be C, F and another C.
