I am referring to a band playing situation. A 50W SS amp
will get blown away volume wise by a 50 W tube amp.
I have a 50W Marshall tube and a 50W Marshall Valvestate.
The 2 are not even close.

Agreed if you crank both past their rated maximums.


I accept that there are big differences in SS amps and
tubes. But saying that 100W = 150W tube is not true
UNLESS YOU QUALIFY THE STATEMENT further to bring in
the other variable(s).

All people are saying is that to have any chance to keep up with a
50W tube amp at band practice, you better have something like
a 100W solidstate amp. Or a 50W tube amp ;-)
