Al Di Meola Guide to Chords, scales, & Arpeggios

I purchased this book after reading a recent thread about Arpeggios. I just
received it tonight and after reading the first few pages I was impressed,
however the chord charts make absolutely no sense to me. They are unlike any
chord chart I've seen. For instance a G Major Chord. I'm sure it's just me
but if someone has the book and would explain the charts it would be
appreciated :)
