What are you using for an amp?


I agree with PolyMorf. There might be a few acoustics that could possibly
interest me at about 5K, but no electrics. 2K or less will give you what
you need and he's made some excellent suggestions. Above that you'll either
be paying for a museum piece or cosmetics. Fine if that's what you want,
but at about 2K you'll top out in utility and be entering these other
realms. I'd seriously consider spending the other 3K on an amp and outboard
gear, and you'll do quite well with that budget.

One other thing to remember: If you walk into a guitar shop and tell them
you have five grand to spend, they'll make sure you spend five grand.
