Ease of use, then option 3, but I will say if you want proper results,
then the minature home-studio route, secret option 5, but it will cost
just a little extra (maybe)
That is becuase I have found owning a proper guitar mic a biggie in
captuing the sound of a guitar through the amp (especially when
recording distortion). Option 3 IMO fails here for numerous reasons.
Of course, with a guitar mic you need a proper preamplifier to bump up
the signal so you can record properly into the line-in. Computer mic's
and / or the mic input = poor results.
Those two arnt too expensive, for say £150 you could get a plenty nice
mic and preamp. (for best results a soundcard geared up for recording
would be better but not essential, I get nearly as good results with my
soundblaster compared to my m-audiphile).
Finally, I have found fruity loops an excellent little studio package
which is simple to ue but allows you to do some complex things when you
learn how to use it (the version with the effects on it, e.g
compressor, reverb etc) becuase you can record, edit, construct and mix
your recordings properly / more proffesionally, and achieve much much
better results.
Mixing is by far the most important part. Once I know what I want to
record, I spend more time mixing the results together then I do
recording it, becuase when mixing you hold all the possibilties to
change the way the end result sounds(eqing, levels, effects etc etc etc
to polishing off recordings (not too much tho!)), great
playing/recordings mixed bad = crap sounding, crap playing/recordings
mixed well = good souding.
